STATISTICS ON CORAL REEFS AND THEIR KILLER
AKA BAD SEA WEED, CAULERPA BRACHYPUS, CAULERPA VERTISILADA …

1. Coral Reefs only cover one percent of the ocean floor but still support about 25% of all marine life.
2. Coral Reefs have been around since the Ice Age, yet it has only taken the last 20 years to wipe out 97% of the reefs in the Caribbean and Florida Keys
3. Coral Reefs are the home to over 700 species of coral, 4,000 species of fish and thousands of plants and animals
4. Pollution is found to be the leading cause of global coral reef deprivation, by the year 2020 coral reefs may be gone if it continues.
5. Studies shows 60% of the world’s reefs have complete damage or are severely hurt.
6. The Algae invader is covering about 90% or more of the ocean bottom.
7. They provide us with food, income and pharmaceutical jobs. In Palm Beach County alone annual revenues are as much as $200 million dollars and 6,300 jobs.
8. Plant officials have told the Department of Environmental Protection the cost of alternative waste-water treatment or disposal methods would cost from $25 million to $30 million.
9. Killer Weed is reaching 20 to 70 feet of sponges and soft corals such as sea whips and sea sponges
10. There are 80 countries and geographical locations with coral reefs
